Wil Willis Biography

Wil Willis was born in Portugal in February 1975. The media is not yet settled on his exact date of birth. While some sources say 13th, others say 14th February. The movie star is American by nationality and belongs to white ethnic background. Standing 5 feet 11 inches (1.80 meters) tall; Wil was born into a military family. He grew up with his four other siblings consisting of two boys and two girls.

During his childhood days, Wil and his siblings spent time at different military bases where their father was deployed; until his retirement in 1991. This explains why he developed a passion for the army from childhood and desired to become one when he grows up. After his father’s retirement from the Army, his family moved to California where he completed his basic education.

Military Career

Soon after his graduation from high school in 1993, Wil Willis immediately joined the military in fulfillment of his childhood dreams. As a military man, he went through the Advanced Individual Training and the Ranger Indoctrination Program (R.I.P.). He also trained in the Basic Airborne School. After that, he was enlisted in the 3rd Ranger Battalion where he actively served for close to five years (Oct. 1993 – Feb. 1998).

On leaving the Army’s 3rd ranger Battalion in 1998, Willis trained for and joined the Air Force Para-rescue team, precisely the 56th Rescue Squadron. Despite being a very dangerous job, the brave and daring Wil served in that capacity for almost ten years ending in 2007. For his remarkable performance, he was honored with the Sikorsky Rescue Award in 2001. The following year, he rose to the rank of Weapons, Tactics, and Air Operations Instructor. Prior to his retirement in 2008, Willis also served in the Air Force Reserve Duty’s 308th Rescue Squadron for one year.

Acting Career

After retiring from the Army, Wil Willis ventured into television acting. In order to garner skills in the field of arts and theater, Wil enrolled at the New York Film Academy where he studied play-writing and screenwriting. Graduating from the film academy, he quickly landed his first gig with Broken Lizard Productions. After a while, he made his first TV appearance as the host of the Military Channel’s 2009 reality series, Special Ops Mission. The actor equally hosted the 2013 documentary series, Triggers: Weapons That Changed the World.

Following his flair for handling weapons (especially knives), he was given the nickname “Human Swiss knife”. He went on to create his own weapon-based reality television competition, Forged in Fire in 2015. The show premiered on 22nd June 2015 on the History Channel and has been airing on the channel to date. The Forged in Fire contest focuses on weapons production and reviews, with Wil being both the host and judge. Winners go home with a cash prize as much as $10,000.

Additionally, the actor has made other appearance in TV dramas including Beerfest (2006), In the Valley of Elah (2007) and Sovereign (2015). He also guest-starred in Last Call with Carson Daly (2011) and An Officer and a Movie (2012). Asides from acting, he is also a Tactical Combat Casualty Care trainer.

Wil Willis is got an interesting love life and is happily married to his long-time girlfriend, Krystle Amina. His wife is a talented creative artist and interior decorator.
